Complex Pediatric ENT Specialist
Spokane ENT (a division of Columbia Surgical Specialists) is a physician-owned practice with history that stretches over 100 years. We are seeking to hire a fellowship-trained pediatric otolaryngologist to augment our robust service line.
Complex pediatric otolaryngology plays a critical role in patient care delivery at Providence Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital, which has 160 beds including full NICU and PICU services. Patients are treated for a full spectrum of conditions. An aerodigestive team consisting of specialists in gastroenterology, pulmonology, genetics, and speech language pathology convenes regularly to deliver coordinated care for the most complex presentations. The children’s hospital is attached to Sacred Heart Medical Center, which has more than 600 additional beds for adult patients and provides level II trauma services to the entire inland northwest.
Although the position is oriented towards CPO, applicants can also expect to deliver “bread and butter” outpatient pediatric otolaryngology in the Ambulatory Surgery Center owned by Columbia Surgical Specialists and housed within our main outpatient clinical facility.
The ENT group consists of ~10 otolaryngologists (with subspecialists in otology/neurotology, H&N/microvascular, rhinology/anterior skull base, and pediatrics), 3 midlevel providers, and 7 audiologists. Call is about 1 in 10 without facial trauma requirements. Most physicians hold academic positions with the University of Washington as well as Washington State University, both of which have medical students who complete all 4 years of school in Spokane. Starting salary is competitive, a bonus program augments it, there is no state income tax, and full benefits are included. The opportunity for partnership is entertained after 1 year of employment and under most circumstances occurs within 2 years.
Spokane is in Eastern Washington and is the medical hub of the inland northwest. The metro area has a population of 600k and our geographic catchment holds about 2M people. We field referrals from a >200 mile radius. Cost of living remains affordable, especially when compared with metropolitan areas home to practices our size. Many physicians in the group frequent lakefront property or slopeside homes within 90 minutes of downtown for world-class skiing, watersports, fishing, cycling, and hiking. Most of us commute about 10 minutes to our 30,000 sq ft downtown office, through neighborhoods, without any highway traffic.
To be considered for the position, please submit a curriculum vitae with your reply to Dr. William Schmitt at [email protected] and Craig Hult at [email protected]. We are considering both recent fellowship graduates as well as mid-career pediatric otolaryngologists. Applicants ready to start anytime in the next couple of years will be considered.

Pediatric Otolaryngologist – Phoenix Children’s
Phoenix Children's is seeking BC/BE fellowship-trained Pediatric Otolaryngologists to join our team of 10 surgeons and 8 advanced practice providers in delivering exceptional family-focused, equitable, and accessible services to a diverse pediatric population in one of the fastest growing areas of the country. This is a unique opportunity to become part of a young division in which every member takes pride in knowing that they help us to deliver exceptional family-focused, equitable, and accessible services to a diverse pediatric population.
Arizona and the greater Phoenix area specifically are experiencing tremendous growth and we are the major tertiary center in the region for pediatric otolaryngology, and head and neck surgery problems.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing the full spectrum of pediatric otolaryngologic conditions. A subspecialty interest in aerodigestive and complex airway disorders is preferred, but not required.
In addition to clinical care, the successful applicant will also have the opportunity to advance the field with clinical or basic science research endeavors and to help guide the education of the next generation of providers with teaching opportunities involving residents and medical students from three local institutions. We are the pediatric arm of the Mayo Clinic Arizona Otolaryngology Residency program and we have academic affiliations with Mayo Clinic Medical School, the University of Arizona College of Medicine–Phoenix, and Creighton University Medical School. All offer educational opportunities and faculty appointments.
Our physical footprint is expanding. It is all to ensure Arizona families have access to high-quality healthcare – right in their own communities. With a comprehensive quaternary children’s hospital, a free-standing emergency department, two additional community hospital locations opening in 2024, and more than 40 sites of care and clinics, we deliver high-quality care for communities throughout the Southwest. We are made up of more than 1,500 medical staff providers who address health challenges from the every day to the most complex and from the earliest years onward. Alongside our colleagues, collaborators, and communities, we are elevating pediatric care, education, and innovation so we can all grow healthier together.
Phoenix Children’s is Arizona’s only children’s hospital recognized by US News & World Report’s Best Children’s Hospitals, ranking in eight specialties in 2022. Phoenix Children’s also consistently ranks on the Becker’s Hospital Review list of the 150 Top Places to Work in Healthcare.
The Phoenix Valley Region is the fifth largest metropolitan area in the US. Over the last several years, Phoenix and its surrounding communities have experienced significant population growth while still maintaining a favorable cost of living compared to the other largest metro areas. Year-round sunshine, abundant scenic desert landscape, and access to every possible cultural and recreational and spectator sports activities are other advantages of living in the Phoenix Valley area.
This position offers competitive compensation, excellent benefits, including employer retirement contribution, generous vacation/meeting time, CME funds, health and dental benefits, disability, and life insurance.
